Job Description

As Nursery Practitioner your roles and responsibilities include –

  • Build effective relationships and fully engage with children on a one to one basis, parents and colleagues
  • Create safe and stimulating environments in line with the EYFS and our ethos
  • Observe, assess and plan to support the individual needs of children
  • Understand, implement and keep up to date with safeguarding, health and safety and welfare policies
  • Act as role models in order to support colleagues’ (in particular Nursery Assistants) and children’s development
  • ‘Step up’ to deputise for the Supervisor in their absence and as required
  • Support Nursery Assistants to develop and progress

Your essential skills and experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent
  • Level 2 Safeguarding would be an advantage
  • Evident enthusiasm for working with children and delivering high quality childcare/early years education
  • Good organisational skills; able to plan own work and resources accordingly
  • Ability to establish good relationships with parents – welcoming and approachable personality
  • Good understanding of policies and practices within a childcare setting with an ability to confidently communicate and apply these
  • Solid knowledge of the EYFS and its practical application within a childcare setting
  • Strong team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude. Willingness to support colleagues and share information
  • Good, confident, honest communicator
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and ability to think on their feet
  • Good written skills with ability to complete required paperwork to required standards

Apprentice Early Years Practitioner

Job Description

At Eco Montessori we are looking to recruit and fun and enthusiastic individual with a genuine love for children to join our team. Applicants must be upbeat and keen to learn. The person we are looking for must be approachable, caring and have a passion for working with children. You must be a reliable member of the team and able to work co-operatively with others and be flexible to the needs of the children and the setting. The right candidate must be prepared to undertake professional development as required you must demonstrate a high level of honesty and integrity.

You must have the ability to form warm relationships and be smart in your appearance.

Main responsibilities:

  • To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5years.
  • To ensure that the setting is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
  • To developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
  • To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Nursery Manager. To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship
  • To attend training
  • To complete all assignments set
  • To work as part of a team
  • To attend associated training
  • To liaise with mentor and assessor and prepare yourself for your assessment visits
  • To help to develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents / teachers and nursery staff to facilitate day to day caring needs.
  • Liaising with parents in an upbeat and friendly manner, maintaining eye contact and a smile.
  • Introducing yourself to those you may not have met.

Main activities:

  • To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
  • To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
  • To help ensure Eco Montessori meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
  • To understand and work to Eco Montessori policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
  • To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
  • To be a key person.
  • To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
  • To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with Eco Montessori aims and objectives

Room Leader

Job Description

We have a vacancy for a room leader in both our settings. We would ideally like someone who is available for 38 hours per week to be worked over four days however we can be flexible for the right applicant.

Required criteria:

– Minimum Ofsted level 3 (Early Years)

– Previous experience working with children aged 0-2 years

– Strong leadership skills

– Creative, fun and imaginative team player

– Excellent communication skills

– Good understanding and knowledge of the EYFS

Role responsibilities:

– Responsible for leading our team of nursery teachers, – inspiring team members to deliver high quality care and learning opportunities.

– Responsible for upholding all policies and procedures, including with regards to safeguarding.

– Responsible for supporting and guiding children in becoming curious learners.

– Responsible for manager resources within the room.

– Responsible for creating a warm, cosy, friendly environment for the children.

– Responsible for building positive relationships with all our families

Bank Staff

Job Description

We are seeking Bank Staff to work both our Winchester and West Tytherley. We can offer either part-time or full time hours.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nursery practitioner passionate about Early Years to broaden their understanding of different approaches to teaching.

The ideal candidate

MUST hold at least an NVQ3 or equivalent childcare qualification.

A minimum of 1-year childcare experience necessary

Our ideal candidate will

  • Have an ability to think outside the box.
  • Be a great team player.
  • Have a firm understanding of the EYFS and how to support children to achieve their full potential.
  • Be lots of fun.
  • Encourage learning and development, through play.
  • Create a secure learning environment.
  • Work with parents to support their children.
  • Enable children to build their literacy, language, and numeracy skills.
  • Monitor progress and plan fun, exiting and educational activities.
  • Put together activities which will keep the children engaged throughout the day.
  • Help children get ready for the transition into a classroom environment.
  • Help children to become more independent when carrying out daily tasks.
  • Previous experience of alternative approaches to delivering the EYFS, such as the Montessori approach would be fantastic, although not essential

Hours of work are 8am-6pm.

The position will be subject to a DBS check and reference checks.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Salary: £9.00-£11.00 per hour
